Miss Plouvier's Shakespearean Class
Within a Theatre classroom, like an english classroom, it involves a lot of reading and analysis. However, plays and musicals are much different than a book and may seem extremely challenging to students. Adding the stress of that on top of the scary thought of reading material from the 1600's can make students uncomfortable and unwilling to the subject. This is why teaching Shakespeare is such a struggle in high schools. Creating excitement and confidence within the students is a key to successfully teaching Shakespeare and his plays. Using iMovie was a PERFECT tool to create such confidence and "hook" the students. That was the main purpose of my iMovie trailer. Making my students feel as if they are super hero's and can handle reading Shakespeare was awesome and easily made using iMovie. Making Shakespeare seem cool, exciting, and accessible was awesome and fun for me to do as a teacher. iMovie having set up templates was super easy and took me no time at all to make a one minute video. By just clicking in the appropriate boxes, it made the transitions, music selection, text, and effects put together and look advanced. In the future, i would love to use this application to introduce new lessons and instill confidence in my students (so i can also use pictures of my real students and not stock photos!)
